Sustainability in cotton value chain

Sustainability in Cotton Value Chain in Textile Industry

As a key raw material employed in the textile and apparel industry, cotton production provides income for more than 250 million people across the world and employs close to 7% of all labor in developing countries. Although cotton is widely used, the T&A industry’s capacity to continue producing cotton textiles in the future is eventually threatened by the unsustainable nature of existing cotton production methods. Immediate sustainable measures are required for protecting the livelihoods of multiple cotton industry stakeholders and the textile industry itself.
